01 · Independent CAD drafting for survey firms

Survey drawings, to your standards.

Send me your laser scan, photogrammetry, drone or topo data. I draw it in your layers and title block, ready for your surveyor to review.

Approach

Survey experience.
Clearly drawn.

I understand the survey behind the linework. I turn your supplied data into clear CAD drawings, with uncertainties flagged for your team to review.

Example drawing: south elevation of a brick hall with clock tower Illustration, not a client project. South elevation drawn in metres: clock tower with stone quoins, five-bay two-storey brick hall with hipped slate roof, dormers, chimneys and pedimented entrance, and a single-storey wing with its own pitched roof and chimney. Background

nearly ten years in UK survey

I’ve been on the other side of the drawing.

In the field

  • Measured building, topographic and utility surveys.
  • GNSS, total stations and laser scanners.

In the air

  • Drone pilot for 9+ years.
  • Manual and automated flights.
  • Roofs, elevations, heritage and hard-to-reach areas.
  • Georeferenced photogrammetry supporting terrestrial scanning.

At the desk

  • Registered and georeferenced projects of 1,000+ scan setups.
  • Drafting remotely for the last few years.
  • Now full-time, for survey and engineering firms.
Working together

Checking, style, contact and cost.

Will my team end up checking all of it?
Your team still reviews the drawings. I follow your template and flag missing, occluded or ambiguous data so you can focus on the decisions that need your input.
Will it look like our drawings?
Send your template, layers and title block. Better still, send a finished drawing and I’ll match its style.
Does the drafter understand survey data?
My background covers measured building, topographic and utility surveys. I recognise occlusion, noise and reflective surfaces, and flag anything the supplied data cannot resolve.
Who will I talk to?
Me, from brief to handover, by email or a call. Independent contractor, no account manager in between.
Whose name goes on the drawing?
Yours. I draft for your surveyor, who reviews and signs it off, and seals it where your jurisdiction requires.
What does it cost, and what about revisions?
Quoted per job. The quote sets out scope, standards, how revisions are handled and the delivery date, before work starts.
How will you handle our data?
Kept confidential and used only for your brief, with transfer and retention agreed before work starts.

Details

Formats, capacity and terms.

01

Can we talk before I send anything?

+

Yes. We can talk through a project or ongoing support on Microsoft Teams. Email me to arrange a time; a sample drawing or brief outline helps.

02

What is in and out of scope?

+

Drawings produced from the data you supply. Site work, 3D or BIM modelling, and signing or certifying stay with your team.

03

What formats do you deliver?

+

DWG, DXF and PDF, as agreed. Tell me your CAD version and I’ll match it.

04

Can you cover busy periods and big projects?

+

Yes, from a single revision to a full package, where my diary allows. Tell me volume and dates early and I’ll confirm capacity before you commit. If I can’t cover it, I’ll say so at the start.

05

Will you sign an NDA?

+

Yes. Send yours for review, or ask for mine.
